Torrenta- A Beginner’s Guide
written by riley, bella and zena.
Maybe you discovered Torrenta on google. Maybe you clicked our banner on one of our affiliated sites. Or maybe a friend referred you. Regardless of how you found us, you’re here now, and wondering what to do. Here’s a guide to get you started!
+ You should start off by reading the encyclopedia. I know, there’s a lot of threads in there. Really you only need to read the rules and battle rules to start off, but all the threads in there are very important and should be read eventually!
+ Once your brain is fit to explode from reading the encyclopedia, it’s time to make a character! This can be done here. Be sure to follow the creating a character guide when you make your character!
+ Yay! Your character has been accepted! Now it’s time to head off to the Torrenta Region Pokemon Lab (or the Team Genetic Headquarters if your character is a Team Genetic member, or the Ranger HQ for Rangers) to get your first Pokemon. Remember that you cannot do anything besides chat in the cbox and post in the OOC boards without your starter Pokemon, so it is essential you do this first!
+ Alright, so you’ve just left the lab, new Pokemon in tow. But now what? There are so many places on Torrenta, how will you know where to go? Well, if you read the rules like you were supposed to, you should remember that Torrenta is entirely non-linear, and we operate on liquid time. So, you can start on any route and have multiple threads at once. To see which route goes to which gym, and which threads are routes, look in the Urban Torrenta area. The only exception to this is Nurjak City, which you can get to without having to complete a thread somewhere else first.
+ So what exactly are you doing on Torrenta? What would your character like to do? They can be a breeder, a scientist, or just a ordinary trainer. But there are two really famous goals on Torrenta.
The first one is becoming the Torrenta Pokemon Master. You may have heard it on the cbox, but our most recent master is Sombra. In order to compete in the Torrenta Plateau and have a chance to take his place, you will need to collect all five badges. The gyms are Harku, the Fighting Gym. Sealean, the Grass Gym. Kargarius, the Water Gym. Fyra, the Fire Gym. And Glacier, the Ice Gym. Then, beat the Elite Four and claim glory!
The second goal is completing Coordinator contests! These are run throughout the year and are generally quite hyped up. People travel from all over the region in order to see them, and people and Pokemon try their hardest to win the prized first place ribbons.Other Things To Do!
There are plenty of things to do on Torrenta! Here’s a list of some things you may or may not know about. Remember, you MUST get your starter Pokemon before you can do most of these things!
+ Trainer Hill! Trainer Hill is a great place. All you have to do is make a thread and post the complete stats of up to two of your character's Pokemon. Then, those Pokemon earn two levels each! It's an easy way to get free levels each week.
+Mining! You can create a thread here to dig up anything from junk and shards to be sold, evolution stones to keep or sell, megastones to keep or trade, or fossils!
+ Taco del Pokemon! Residing in Nurjak City, Taco is the site’s only place to buy and sell Pokemon. Browse their wares or even PM a member of Ustaff to get your own Pokemon added!
+Egg Valley! Egg Valley is a very cool place. Here you can have the choice between four eggs in order to receive a hatchling! It's another easy way to expand your team twice a month.
+ Pokemon Breeding! Here is another staple of the games, and the home of most breeders. Here you can breed your Pokemon together in order to have many more.
+Breeding Barns! Breeding barns are a great way to get Pokemon. Here you can find the Pokemon that breeders have and do not want, or have multiples of. It's entirely free to adopt Pokemon from these barns, and there's a wide variety to be found!
+Battle Emporium! This is like Trainer Hill, but all level gains are done in character. Bring your Pokemon here for battles with mods to gain levels and rare candy!
+The Trade Center! The trade center is where members can put up Pokemon they have for trade. You can offer Pokemon of your own for one they have listed, or even make your own thread for people to give offers.
+Glitch City! Want a place that borders on the strange, with quite a bit of mystery and danger? Here you can find it! A science experiment gone wrong, Glitch City is full of strange Pokemon. Go in and see if you can help some of them, and you can keep a few if you like!
+Carnival of Capitalism! Here is a wonderful place, full of all sorts of fun games. They all have their own rules and themes, but the end result is a lot of ways to get all sorts of prizes, from items to credits or Pokemon!
+Berry Farm! If you're interested in contests, here is a good place to stake out. Grow your own berries and make Pokeblocks to increase the contest stats of your Pokemon!
+Battle Tower! Looking for a unique battling experience? Here it is! Choose from a random team of level 50 Pokemon and go against NPCs who also have random teams. Will you get lucky, or flop? If you can get to the top of the tower, great prizes await you!
And there you have it! This guide doesn’t include everything, but it should give you a good start. And remember, if you have any questions, you can always PM any staff member or ask in the cbox. We will be happy to help!
