APPEARANCE --
At first glance, Sera appears to be a rather gorgeous specimen of a Pokemorph; although, as her 'father' had also exploited, there is also a somewhat angelic influence to her look. She is a rather tall, elegant-looking young woman, standing at an impressive 6"0 in all, with light cream-colored skin and rosy cheeks. Despite a full, heart-shaped face, she is rather thin; as if she's been stretched taught across her bones. This is particularly evident in her neck and arm area; her shoulders being incredibly bony, her elbows jutting out at odd angles, and her fingers strangely long. Still, this frailness doesn't make her appear unpleasant; with her shaggy blonde hair poking out in a feathery bowl cut, she is more of a charming tom-boy, with warm brown eyes and a small, sweet smile.
Of course, the evidence of something inhuman begins with her back; the impressive 12-foot wingspan that she possesses. The wings, once a paled yellow like her hair when she was younger, have grown snowy white now; although the tips grow dingy if she isn't careful to powder them frequently. As wings are not a normal part of the human body, Sera is unable to close them perfectly against her back, leaving them at least half-closed at all times. When frightened, she either stretches them out to their full extent to try and frighten others away, or curls them around herself, almost perfectly able to hide her body away behind their feathery expanse. It appears as if they are appearing from her back from her shoulder blades, but there is an expanse of white feathers that trail down her spine as well, leading to her lower back and a large tuft of growth of those same feathers; like a bustle, or rather, a tail. It is hard to see this, however, as Sera seems rather embarrassed of her tail; she keeps it covered beneath the long coat and baggy skirts that she wears.
These are not the last vestiges of her Pokemorph nature, however; it's just that most of her genetic code which displays her oddness is internal, rather than external. The last hint that something is not quite right is in her feet; which is why she keeps them carefully bound up in shoes that are obviously a little uncomfortable for her. She is syndactyly; her toes are webbed, and longer than human toes; ending in sharp nails that could be better described as claws. Her lower legs and feet also appear to be scaled, as well; crusted in black, scaly material - just like a bird's foot. When walking barefoot, she is perfectly graceful; her odd feet made for balancing the topheaviness caused by her wings or her general clumsiness. However, she binds her feet up - embarrassed by this part of her not being pretty; causing her steps to be mincing and her balance to be shoddy at best.
Lastly, her Bird-type DNA has lead to two large internal changes. The first is that her bones are hollow, easily broken and unfortunately she is more of a danger to herself than others. She's not quite glass-like, but she is incredibly delicate, and not one who'd fair well in a fight. She bruises incredibly easily; the strongest limbs in her body are obviously her wings. Secondly, something appears to have affected her voice box. She is unable to vocalize like a normal human being; her voice, when she tries to speak like a human, is lispy at best and unintelligible at worse. While she can mimic all sorts of whistles and squawks and bird calls, she is forced to speak slow and childish, but prefers to communicate in gestures because of this. She finds she gets along better with Pokemon than with People, as they can understand her through pokespeak.
PERSONALITY --
Sera is an overly-trusting person, who has little to no knowledge of how the outside world works. Until her father's ultimate betrayal and she decided to run away, she has been used to people catering to her every whim, telling her how wondrous she is and basically treating her like, well...an angel. She still half expects this with the people she meets; it's not an attempt to be snotty or holier than though; it is a legitimate plea because that's all she's known. She will follow the first person who is friendly to her at the drop of a hat, and try to be helpful, but essentially, as a person..she is useless. Unless, of course, she discovers how to use those wings properly.
Easily embarrassed and overly clumsy, she prefers to hide behind her wings and put on a coy act than to take a stand for anything. She has rarely been outside, let alone travel anywhere; getting all her knowledge of coordinating and caring for Pokemon from watching television. She is shy, when it comes to meeting new people; afraid that she is ultimately going to disappoint them. She isn't the perfect image her father tried to project; she can't even speak properly, so she prefers to hide away even when on the road.
And, of course, there's her health issues; she's not one for fighting only because she would likely hurt herself more than so much as leave a scratch on a opponent. She gets by by being sweet, caring for others and trying to be incredibly gentle and unassuming - or as unassuming as you can be with a 12-foot wingspan.
Truthfully, it would be nice to find someone who could show her a good time and to embrace all those parts of her oddities. Who knows how she could blossom then?
HISTORY --
Sera grew up never knowing how she was born, or where she came from. The story her father gave her, Lou Worth, was that he found her in a nest, surrounded by eggshells, adding to the delusion of her specialness. The fact is that Lou had found some friends in high places who liked to play around with human and Pokemon DNA, and convinced them to play around with his then-girlfriend Gertrude. Gertie gave birth to Sera and was immediately horrified by the strange, not quite beautiful child; and left the child in Lou's care. What followed was something no one could describe as a perfect childhood.
Lou wanted money; and Sera's oddity, he figured, was a perfect way to get it. He immediately started spreading the rumor that Sera was special, magical even; that the only obvious strange thing around her was her wings, and that hinted that she was special and powerful in so many ways. He encouraged her from the start to cover up the less-sightly mutations, and best to keep her mouth shut. Even when she was a toddler and still hadn't spoken, he didn't seem worried; a child who ran her mouth, after all, might say something she shouldn't.
As Sera grew, her father grew more and more possessive. He stopped so many people from seeing her, charging ridiculous amounts of money. She was more of a sideshow than anything, kept inside or secluded to their back garden, watching birds and animals and Pokemon or watching cable-access television almost religiously. It was here where she saw her first Coordinators competition, and wished that one day she could be one of those beautiful men and women.
However, as she grew, her strangeness grew too. Her wings were no longer pretty, feathery stubs on her back. They were big enough, strong enough, that they might actually carry her. This was a problem that Lou recognized before Sera did - what if, one day, she tried to escape by flying away. This lead to a huge betrayal, the final straw. One night, while Sera was sleeping, her father came in and clipped her wings; cutting so deep in one of the feathers that she woke up bleeding, scared, and confused.
It was after this that the father-daughter relationship was severely strained. Sera was scared of the man that claimed he was there to protect her from the world, and, despite having no worldly skills, began wondering if she was at all safe in his hands. It was on one night, one year ago, that she decided to leave; slipping out this time while her father was asleep, and travelling as best she could. Her wings grew full once more, but she didn't dare try flying. She took to disguising herself with cloaks, looking a bit more like a doll-faced hunchback than anything. Without knowing what to do with herself, she sought to emulate those beautiful people on television, finding herself lonely and scared now that people were no longer paying attention to her. She's still unsure as to whether or not she has made the right decision.
She wanted to get as far away from her father as possible, and therefore took off to travel by boat to the most foreign-sounding place she could find. That, it finds, was Torrenta. She has no friends or family there, but, to her relief, it seems it will be a place she can disappear into.
