general rules
these are the rules that affect all parts of the site
+ RESPECT for others is expected from everyone. This means no trolling, flaming, or otherwise insulting members or staff. If you witness such behavior anywhere on the site, including the cbox, please screenshot it and send the screenshot(s) to a member of upper staff.
+ PLAGIARISM is not tolerated on Torrenta. If we find that you have stolen someone else's work, we will ask you to take it down. If you do not, we will remove it for you.
+ ADMINISTRATORS, once they have resigned from their position, may not regain their position again. They'll have to start from the bottom again.
+ PG-13 is the rating for this site. This means absolutely no rape, brutal murder or other horrific crimes to be narrated here. Sex must always be fade-to-black.
+ CBOX TIME is the standard time for Torrenta. When it comes to deadlines, resets, and any other time-sensitive issues; Cbox time (which is also Eastern Standard Time (EST)) is to be used.
+ SEASONS on Torrenta are as follows:
Winter/Cold: December 1 - February 28/29
Spring/Wet: March 1 - May 30
Summer/Hot: June 1 - August 31
Fall/Dry: September 1 - November 30
+ POKEMON NATURES on Torrenta are their personality that is shown while role-playing them. Natures/Personalities of Pokemon can be changed by purchasing a Personality Potion from the Nurjak Pawn Shop and may not simply be overwritten. "Choice" natures do not need a potion in order to change them.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------account rules
these are rules that are generally about your account
+ SIGNATURES are required to include the links to your accepted character profiles. If you have a lot of characters and you do not have enough room for them all in your signature, then PM a GMOD or ADMIN and they will create a special censor for you. It is also suggested you include your level average here, but is not required. If it is not here, it must be in your profile.
+ POKEMON AND INVENTORY for each character must be found on their profile for easy access. You can reserve posts prior to their acceptance, if you wish, or make new posts afterwards.
+ LINKS TO YOUR ROLEPLAY THREADS ARE MANDATORY IN EVERY CHARACTER PROFILE. You do not need to link one-shot threads, but you must link the following:
- Route Threads (Deepgreen Trail, Rilesia Mountain Range, etc)
- Non-Route Threads (Gutix Beach, Energy Plant, Adara Ruins, etc)
- Gym Threads , Battle Emporium Threads, Missions (Ranger, Genetic, or otherwise)
- Event Threads
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------in character rules
these are rules that are generally about the actual role play experience
+ TORRENTA'S MAP can be found here. The map was made by Direbolt.
+YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR OWN STARTER. You may choose any starter that is not on any of these lists. So if you wanted to start with a Bidoof, you may start with one! You cannot do anything else on the site without your starter, so make sure the respective lab for your character is your first stop.
+BRINGING A PARTNER POKEMON from another region is allowed, provided that it fits within our rules. That is to say, they must be at the lowest evolutionary form, must be level five and cannot be on any of these lists. You must still go to the lab, where the mod will officially give you the coding.
+ YOU MUST WRITE at least 100 words in each in-character post you make. If a post is just meeting the word count (between 100-110 words long) and we notice an excessive amount of dialogue (over 75 words of pure dialogue) we reserve the right to ask that there be more added into the post.
+ NON-LINEAR ROUTES are in place on Torrenta. This means you can challenge any of the five gyms in any order. To reach a gym, you must first complete a thread in the gym town's corresponding "route". You may only challenge one gym at a time, and you may only travel through one route at a time. To clarify, you can have threads in multiple routes at the same time, but only one of those threads may be used to travel to a town. The routes are classified as:•Deepgreen Trail
•Rilesia Mountain Range
•Amon Crossroads
•Kargarius Suspension Bridge
•Glacier River
+ IN ORDER TO COMPLETE A ROUTE THREAD, there must be two full separate encounters/plot lines, or the thread must hit two full pages (this means when it goes into the third page, it is acceptable to wrap it up). In order to be a separate encounter/plot line, the two encounters must not have any connecting ties between them. If you rescue a Pokemon from sudden death, the next encounter must not have any connection to saving that Pokemon.
+ LIQUID TIME is used on Torrenta. This means you can have multiple threads with the same character at one time. However, this does come with some guidelines. You may only have one Gym thread at a time. Furthermore, you can only be in one town/city at any given time. If one of your Pokémon levels in one thread while you have multiple threads going, you can change that Pokémon's level to reflect its new level in another thread as long as that Pokémon is not in battle.
+ THE ORIGINAL TRAINER of a Pokémon is important. You must include the OT of all of your Pokémon somewhere in the Pokémon's stats. If you obtain Pokémon through a trade or a giveaway, you are NOT the OT and must follow these rules when using them:
- 0 badges = Levels 0-20 will battle
- 1 badge = Levels 0-40 will battle
- 2 badges = Levels 0-60 will battle
- 3 badges = Levels 0-80 will battle
- 4+ badges = All pokemon will battle
If you do not want to get the badges required to make the Pokemon obedient, you must transfer the Original Trainer status of the Pokemon to your character through the Move Tutor. Be sure to do this quickly, as the more powerful the Pokemon becomes, the higher the price of the transfer.
+ POWERLEVELING, or joining a thread with a user with high-leveled Pokémon to obtain high-leveled Pokémon of your own is against the rules.
+ POWERPLAYING is also against the rules. This is where you force-hit or take control of another person's Pokemon. So, if Billy Bob tells his Pikachu to use Thundershock, he cannot say that it actually hit; it's up to Sally Sue to say whether her Pokemon was hit by the Thundershock.
+ YOU ARE ALLOWED up to six battling Pokemon in any one thread. There may be a seventh Pokemon included in the thread, but it may not battle. This is considered your Companion Pokemon.
+ RECOLORED POKEMON are only allowed when given to you through an event or when spawned by upper staff. However, small changes, such as accessories, are allowed. There is an exception for Shiny Pokemon. You are allowed to re-colour Shiny Pokemon that you already have into any different colour. You can make your own sprite or go to an existing shop requesting a recolor. To recolor a sprite, you must pay a minimum of 500 credits per evolutionary level. UStaff will determine the exact price.
+ EACH CHARACTER is allowed One (1) Route Thread, and up to Two (2) Non-Route Threads guaranteed to have a mod. What this means is if your character has one route thread, and two non-route threads already being modded, you may not PP (Please Post) any other route or non-route threads until one of their others are finished.
+ GUARANTEED-MOD THREADS OF TWO OR MORE MEMBERS are allowed only if all participants in the thread have not reached their individual caps.
+GYMS, BATTLE EMPORIUM, AND MISSION THREADS are not included in the thread cap. This means is that Gym threads, Battle Emporium threads, and Mission threads are all guaranteed to be modded. This gives each character the following possibility for roleplay threads:
- One Route Thread
- Two Non-Route Threads
- One Gym Thread
- Three Battle Emporium threads (as long as any Pokemon is not in more than one thread)
- Ranger/Genetic Mission
- Regular Mission
- Official Event-oriented Roleplay threads
As you can see, this still gives plenty of opportunities to roleplay by yourself, as well as plenty of threads for mods to mod.
+ IN ADDITION TO GUARANTEED MOD THREADS, members can create Character Interaction threads with other members. The purpose of these threads is to roleplay with another person, in which your Pokemon are used organically in situations that arise. Your Pokemon will gain levels based on their amount of participation in the thread. Rules for these threads are as follows:
- Unlimited number of participating Characters, but only up to 6 Pokemon per Character.
- Members are allowed to spawn NPC People and Pokemon without a Mod. But any battles with these NPCs will not award any levels or items. Maximum amount of levels gained in these threads are Three (3) and will be determined by Ustaff.
- Characters are not allowed to capture any Pokemon in these threads.
- Posting the thread in Please Post disqualifies this as a Character Interaction thread. Additionally, in order to get a mod from Please Post, all participating characters must have a Guaranteed Mod Thread slot open for the type of thread it is. (Route/Non-Route)
- Battling among yourselves also disqualify this as a Character Interaction thread. If you gain levels for battling among each other, we are not going to award you additional levels for Pokemon participation.
- When the thread is complete, PM the link of the thread to someone in staff FULL MOD or Higher. Do not pressure mods in any way when it comes to awarding levels. If you are unhappy with the results of a Full Mod, submit it to a Gmod for clarification. If you are still unhappy, take it to the Admin. Admin has final ruling, if Admin agrees with either of the previous judgments that is the final decision.
+ CERTAIN POKEMON are considered as a middle-ground rarity on Torrenta. At one point, these Pokemon were thought of as Legendary, but have since been dropped down to ordinary, but rare. Here on Torrenta, we have specific locations these Pokemon could be encountered; though it isn't easy. U-staff has a certain criteria established to encounter these Pokemon. If we see that you have fulfilled the criteria, U-staff may elect to invade your thread with a spawn of that Pokemon. It is entirely random, and entirely based on U-staff's level of generosity.
- Spiritomb - Catacombs
- Rotom - Reusable Energy Plant
- Larvesta - Meteor Falls
- Zorua - Adara Ruins
- Porygon - Glitch City
+ CREDITS MAY NOT BE TRANSFERRED FROM MEMBER TO MEMBER FOR ANY REASON. The exception to this rule is through art shops. If you wish to transfer credits to someone, open a shop and earn your credits from the other member. Upper Staff will watch for abuse of this rule. If you are that hard up for credits, we have a Charity Corner.
+ BEGGING for replies is not allowed. However, if it has been five days without a response from a mod, then you are allowed to post in Please Post requesting a mod. Similarly, mentioning you want a Pokemon OOC or IC means you probably will not get that Pokemon.
+ UNDERSTANDING POKEMON is quite simple here. If you are a Pokemorph you can automatically understand Pokemon if you wish. If you are human, you have some options. The PDA translates Pokemon speech to start off. Second, if you have a psychic Pokemon it can be used to translate Pokemon speech as well. Most use it as the Pokemon is speaking telepathically to the trainer.
+ LEVEL AVERAGES for Pokémon will be calculated using the character's six highest level Pokémon. If you want to have Pokémon of a lower level, you must state it at in your first post and after the conclusion of each battle. For those of you who don't have at least six Pokémon, your average will be calculated using however many you have. Please include your character's level average somewhere accessible in their profile or your signature. Only Pokemon that the character can control are included in the Level Average calculations.
+ POKEMON ABOVE LEVEL 60 can be spawned in the wild, but they cannot be captured. The only place where Pokemon above Level 60 can be captured is the Private Reserve.
+ E4 CHAMPIONS are allowed to Fly back to the lab and obtain a new starter Pokemon to start a new journey. This new starter Pokemon can be any Pokemon besides Legendary Pokemon -- even a rare Pokemon. If you don't want to do that, you can choose a Pokemon up to level 10 from your previous Pokemon to be your starter Pokemon. By starting this new journey, you are putting your previous journey on the back burner; anything you did before on your previous journey cannot affect or help you in your new journey (so you can't use your previous badges to help you in your new journey, or your previous Pokemon in battle.) You are, however, allowed to choose one Pokemon from your previous team as a companion Pokemon -- and they can NEVER be used in battle on your new journey. Basically, the restart journey is starting over with whatever Pokemon you want, but you're going back to defeat the gyms and everything all over again.
+ FINALLY, do not expose Echo to bright light. Do not get Echo wet. Do not feed Echo after midnight. Most importantly, do not break any of these rules or risk the wrath of Echo.
