It has come to my attention that there has been some disagreement about the decision Knucks and myself made about the Battle Floor, where levels can no longer be earned there. Some people feel that this rule change is unfair. However, the Battle Floor system was broken, and it was being abused. Yes, maybe it was only being abused by a minority, but that's enough for there to warrant a rule change.
We had several options to fix the issues with Battle Floor, two of which we debated on. Our first was to change it so that the levels earned would be calculated based upon the Pokémon's normal levels as opposed to their adjusted ones. The second option, the one we went with, was to eliminate level gain in Battle Floor threads entirely. However, we could have also removed the level scaling that goes with the Battle Floor, or just get rid of it altogether.
Keep in mind, levels scaling in the Battle Floor is still relatively new. It was originally implemented Sept. 29, 2012 and, for a long time, it was hardly used. The Battle Floor wasn't meant to be used as a way to gain levels; it was meant to allow people of greatly differing strengths to still battle each other on equal footing. Besides, we have never once said that you could only battle one another on the Battle Floor; if you want to battle each other for levels in other areas of Torrenta, you are more than welcome to.
This rule was implemented because of how the system was being exploited to give quick and easy levels. Unless you can come up with a better solution, this rule will not be changing.
