So first of all, you guys will have noticed that the Torrenta Upgrading Scheme's somewhat different now. The 3 polls have been locked, meaning you can see the results. For the rules that don't have much controversy, I've put them up in the Encyclopaedia, mostly under Rules. Much of these changes take place with the mod system, so I've lumped them in Staff. Staff members should check out Stickied Information for the new Moderating Rules.
But in any case, do look around the site sometime. Most of the features should be up.
As for the rules that have a divided opinion, I'll be opening up Phase 3 of the Upgrading Scheme. I'll try to offer alternative options, if I've any, and you guys are all free to post and discuss and I hope that this time, we're able to come up with a compromise. I'll try not to let the discussions drag since we're probably somewhat tired by now.
The Upgrading Scheme will also be a permanent fixture on Torrenta. Help/Suggestions, if you notice, has become Help without suggestions. Suggestions will go into the Upgrading Scheme. I've split it into OOC and IC suggestions. Please feel free to post suggestions for the site anytime.
Next thing. For the 2 guaranteed-mod thread thing, it's sorta implemented for all new members from now onwards, but you guys probably have 10 000 threads now and can't end them all in one shot. That's alright. You can carry on with them, but can't make new guaranteed-mod threads till you've whittled down to only 2 modded threads. However, you can make character interaction adventure threads from now onwards. Do note that the linking rule starts now. Everyone who's an active roleplayer should get into the habit of linking your threads now.
Even though this new mod system has just been implemented, please note that Quota won't go down immediately. It'll take a while for the effects to be felt and thread count to go down. The first batch of Temp Mods are ending their contract tomorrow, but if you guys still have threads you want to finish up, just tell me and I can extend the contract for you for a while more. The second batch of Temp Mods end their contract in mid-October. Hopefully, after mid-October, we should start to see thread count decreasing. Therefore Temp Mod recruitment's now closed.
Thirdly, you may notice that I've added a new Global Mod to our ranks. That'd be Knucks. Now, generally for the promotion of staff members into the upper staff, there'll often be the suspicion of favouritism. I think very few staff members have been promoted without some discomfort. In my memory, I think the only people have been Echo and... Graz? And maybe Jodi. Iunno. Anyway, I must agree that on the criterion of being good at dealing with people, Knucks doesn't fit the bill at all. He has a strange habit of being blunt and saying what he thinks without thinking through what he said (oooh I like my palindromic way of writing). That said, on the other hand, he's been a great help with work around the site and both Rex and I have been quite relieved with his hardworking assistance. In addition, even though it doesn't look like it on the site, he really isn't a person to bear grudges. I don't really like people who bear grudges so you've got to trust me on that. So please feel free to send him a PM and you'll find that he's really quite nice. But definitely tactless.
In any case, it's always healthy for a site to have a varied mix of upper staff personalities. It's probable that if I do promote anyone else in the future, being good with people will be prioritised. Anyway, to the staff members, I'll be piling the work of doing Quota checks on him now. Of course, if pressed on who has actually been doing Quota checks before, I shall give no comment.
On a more serious note, Rex and I are of course still around if you've any problems.
