the stuff you want need to know!
. 16 . JAN . 2012 .
We hope everyone is having a wonderful year so far and enjoying their time on Torrenta! A few updates have happened recently, so make sure to read the PM's we send out as they have vital information in them. One of the things we are planning to work on is better communication with our members! So keep on the lookout for more information! Also, we just had an activity check, if your account was deleted we do apologize. If your name was not on our list to save or didn't have an away thread your account was deleted with no exceptions. We do encourage people to remake accounts and repost their characters and continue on with their adventures though!

. 20 . DEC . 2011 .
Heyo everyone! A lot of stuff going on this time of year. First of all, Happy Holidays! And, if we have any Jehovah Witnesses in the crowd, happy free-time-out-of-school-for-no-reason! All of that aside, we have a new Gmod in our midst: Jae! Everyone congratulate her. :3 As well, next month we will be having an Activity Check, so if you're not going to be here in the first two weeks of January, post an away thread NOW so that we know. Finally, there the staff's main goal for 2012 is to make rules more clear, to find ways to make modding more productive, and to bring back some old things and maybe bring in some new things. ;3 Anyway, that's it for today.

I am sorry to have to say this, but our beloved co-admin, Echo, is stepping down from her position today. We're very sorry to see her go, as she has been part of the upper staff for over a year. Thank you for everything you have done, Echo. We love you. ♥

I know it's only been, like, a week, but I wasn't floored with that last default and shtuff. lD; So uhm. We have a new default now that I've gotten off my lazy ass and made a new skin because that other one had literally been sitting for about two months, so really, it's not as new as you think I decided it was time for a new default. Hopefully you all enjoy it.

SKIN NAME: ` wrecked

. 09 . OCT . 2011 .
Apologies for that slight interruption. The skins launched this week by Graz, Azazel and Dox respectively are:

SKIN NAME: MINT THIS WAY
SKIN NAME: JACKATTACK!
SKIN NAME: !!STEPONE

. 25 . SEP . 2011 .
Oh look! We have a new look, everyone. To those of you who didn't pay attention to that announcement poll a few weeks ago, the old skins do still work!. So you don't have to worry about your favorite skins dying. However, by using the old skins, you won't get the information in the sidebars - so that means you lose quick links and OTM, and whatever else may eventually go there in the future! Just food for thought. :3 Anyway, enjoy the new layout, gaiz. ^^

SKIN NAME: [ THIS is our world * ]

. 25 . SEP . 2011 .
Hey guys! We're in Maintenance Mode right now to make in the design changes (a good portion of) you guys decided to happen! :3 Expect a downtime of an hour or two while I get everything to work. ~

The Torrenta Region
[ ]Torrenta Region Pokèmon Lab (1 sub-board)
The most popular place to get a free Pokémon, the Torrenta Region Pokémon Laboratory is generally well-kept and modern. Its automatic sliding glass doors, which cannot be slammed, are always open to anyone who wants a free Pokémon. Though the lab is owned by Professor Terra Green, she is almost always absent, and one of the lab aides usually tends to new trainers. However, a fair warning: when Professor Green is away, some sort of chaos is known to erupt, such as a lab aide's taquito lunch, which is inexplicably being cooked in the lab, getting set on fire or group of Pokémon escaping.
1,90911,297
[ ]Route 01
The closest Route to the lab, Route One is little more than a sloppily-bulldozed path through the forest. There are numerous fallen trees and piles of debris still by the edge of the path. In the middle of Route One, there is a giant crater with nothing growing near or in it, almost as though there was a giant explosion there. As one nears Harku Village, the path becomes gradually rockier and more rugged until one arrives at the base of Mt. Tiykao and the entrance to Harku Village.
661,071
[ ]Harku Village: The Mountainous Community (1 sub-board)
Harku Village is a peaceful, quiet little place. The overall lack of bustle throughout the village is somewhat ironic when the fact that it’s situated at the base of an active volcano is considered. Due to its proximity to Mt. Tiykao, however, the legendary Pokémon Heatran is revered as a guardian by the townsfolk. Many banners in Harku Village prominently display the Pokémon, and as such, are the most flashy things in the entire village (that is not very flashy). Very few of the simply built houses are two stories tall, and not a single building in Harku Village exceeds that height. All of the citizens are hospitable and respectful both to outsiders and one another, and even the loudmouthed and somewhat obnoxious Gym Leader and Contest Master Gorin wouldn’t turn away someone in need. Though Harku Village sports an overall rocky terrain and a somewhat old-fashioned style of life instead of skyscrapers and large institutes, its inhabitants are well-educated. Anyone who visits the town can be certain that Harku Village isn’t full of country bumpkins who don’t know what electricity is, and its public image is almost always one of utmost friendliness and hospitality. However, for all the respect Harku Village has throughout Torrenta, most can agree that it only receives public attention due to the fact that it has a Gym and a Contest Hall. Unless one enjoys the volcanic splendor or has relatives in the area, there isn’t much reason to visit.
17651
[ ]Route 02
Route 02 is one of the more dangerous places in Torrenta; a mountain pathway that leads out of Harku Village and is elevated gradually twists around one of Mt. Tiykao's higher crests. Many ledges bridge out to different parts of the precarious trail, and if travelers have especially bad luck they might find themselves hugging the wall so as not to fall off. The moisture in the air due to the height of Route 02, all the same, can be extremely refreshing considering the constant heat. Many nooks and crannies that Pokémon inhabit can be found here, so Pokémon trainers and coordinators won't be without a fight on their trek to Sealan City.
9262
[ ]Sealan City: The City of Flowers (3 sub-boards)
As its title suggests, Sealan City is renowned far and wide for its colorful vegetation and greenhouse-like atmosphere. There are plants growing freely throughout the entire city, from vines covering the colonial-style houses to tiny potted plants blossoming on doorsteps. Sealan could be best described as a lush valley oasis due to its proximity to parched Route Three and craggy Route Two; it's surrounded on all sides by environments nearly opposite its own. And though Sealan City is always bustling with activity thanks to the numerous hotels to accommodate for its tourists and exotic restaurants situated all around, the air is pure and peaceful. There's no denying an eternal calm even if one goes to the more active parts of town. Like other places with Gyms and Contest Halls, however, a wide portion of Sealan's activity can give its thanks to the challengers facing off against the sisters who run the Gym and Contest Hall, Arcia and Amara, respectively.
7135
[ ]Route 03
A sharp contrast from the lush, neighboring Sealan City, Route Three is effectively a desert that bears little to no vegetation, save for small shrubs or prickly green cacti. Be warned; there are several Cacturne that masquerade as immobile plants and attack anyone who draws near in search of water. Rain rarely falls on this route, rendering the area as the driest in the entire region. There are small caverns that could potentially serve as shelter from the scorching sun that are dotted across the landscape, but they are all usually occupied by several Pokémon seeking to escape the terrible heat or the freezing onslaught the night brings. The land is, as they say, “as different as night and day”. Once the sun goes down, Route Three seems to lose all its warmth and becomes nearly as frigid as the top of a snowcapped mountain. In general, it’s considered to be more dangerous during the dark hours, even with the low temperatures disregarded and the fact that it tends to rain more often during the evenings, which often leads to dangerous floods. There are numerous quicksand pits strewn about the desert, and one simple step into one could be the last thing a careless trainer or Pokémon ever does. These spots of quicksand are easy enough to see and avoid when it’s light, given that there are usually bones of victims lying all around, but they are still more dangerous than anything else living in Route Three. All the same, the desert sky is strikingly beautiful at night; brilliant stars shine overhead in the dark sky and it seems that the very sand of the desert sparkles in the moonlight. The beauty is what often gives travelers a false sense of security when making their way through Route Three, as it masks the danger that awaits the unprepared.

[ ]Kargarius City: The Coastal City (1 sub-board)
Kargarius City is always lively, bustling with sailors coming in from other regions to sell their goods and tourists enjoying the tropical splendor. While it’s an active city, though, it’s not quite like the metropolis that is Zepheron; Kargarius tends to have shorter buildings that are designed to cater to any tourists; “I love Kargarius” shirts seem to have become increasingly common attire for people visiting. Aside from the gift shops, there are palm trees all over the city, an iconic symbol of sorts for the famed “tourist trap” of Torrenta. Numerous wild Pelipper make their nests at the tops of these tall trees, safely tucking their eggs away from predators that dwell on the ground. Because the birds tend to get aggressive when someone goes near their nests, most of the palm trees are surrounded by fencing of some sort. Unfortunately, there’s always a ruffian attempting to agitate the Pokémon despite the countless signs that read, “PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB THE TREES OR DISTURB THE PELIPPER”. Kargarius’s beaches are populated by the easygoing inhabitants of the city during the day, with many of them surfing or taking advantage of the abundant source of Water Pokémon for fishing. Some claim that Milotic live in the ocean near Kargarius, but no one has ever caught one to prove the rumor true. The waters are practically deserted during the night, however. Because of its relative proximity to Glacier Town and Route Three, and the fact that it’s on the coast to begin with, Kargarius gets quite chilly when the sun goes down. The waters turn frigid, the cool sea breeze seems colder than it did during the day, and only stray Meowth patrol the streets regularly as they hunt for scraps of food left by the tourists; it’s always quiet at night, here. A significant portion of Kargarius’s visitors may simply be there to marvel at the tropical wonderland as well, but there’s no denying the constant flow of trainers and coordinators that seek to challenge one of the two brothers that each run the Gym and Contest Hall; Ordan and Edan Ether. Whatever your purpose, Kargarius is one of the most enjoyable locales on Torrenta.

[ ]Kargarius Suspension Bridge
A huge suspension bridge that stretches out from the large coastal city of Kargarius to the small island where Fyra Town, among other things, is located. This bridge crosses a huge amount of water in an attempt to reach the craggy, volcanic mountain where Fyra Town is situated. Many Electric-type Pokémon as well as Water and Bird-type Pokémon thrive on the bridge.
116
[ ]Fyra Town: The Hot Volcanic Community (2 sub-boards)
After finally making it across the long and arduous Kargarius Suspension Bridge, you wind up in a small town similar to that of Lavaridge Town in the Hoenn region. Fyra Town lies on the rocky cliffs of the still active Tiykao volcanic range, its source of electric power coming from a clever system that harnesses the power of the range's heat, fueling the town's needs. Stray Fire-type Pokémon are common, and the town is often assaulted by erratic wind patterns. Here, the gym leader Candance lies in wait.
696
[ ]Glacier River
A short while after leaving Fyra Town, you come across a massive river. A small business has been set up to ferry trainers from one end of the river to the other. The ferry to Glacier Town is, however, not very well maintained and has been known to leak or even come apart entirely. Small stray glaciers are usually lying in the ferry's path, and feral Pokémon are often found aboard the ill-prepared boats of the ferries, so don't expect it to be a pleasant ride down the river!
540
[ ]Glacier Town: The Village of Blizzards (1 sub-board)
After tumbling across Glacier River, you reach a frozen island... or at least what appears to be an island. It's actually a huge glacier. Here resides Glacier Town, arguably one of Torrenta's most frigid locations. Ice, Water and Steel-type Pokémon are commonly found wandering around, and most of Glacier Town's inhabitants prefer to live in log cabins. In this place, old man Forgurn and peppy kid Cheney wait, the final gym leader and the final Contest Master of the Torrenta region.
546
[ ]Victory Air Transportation Service
After toughing it out at Glacier Town, miles away from the glacier's location is a humongous rocky mountain. Lying atop the mountain is the city of Zephereon, and to help aspiring Pokémon trainers or coordinators up, a transportation service has been set up. It would take forever to scale Mt. Victory, so you have no choice but to take the huge blimp. Don't worry, just show them your badges or ribbons and it's all complimentary. But be careful; wild Pokémon have been known to hitch a ride onboard the blimp, unbeknownst to the caretakers of the sky hook.
11
[ ]Zephereon City: The High-Tech Metropolis (5 sub-boards)
Welcome to the technologically advanced city of Zephereon! This capital city has thrived with its towering, monumental buildings and people. It has received its name when it was once in the care of the city’s deceased mayor, Athos Zephereous. Whether you’re here for important matters or to simply hang out, be sure to check out some of the sights while you're at it; you'll never know what you'll find.

Other Regions of Torrenta
[ ]Merengi Prairie (1 sub-board)
The Merengi Prairie is a vast expanse of grass and shrubbery which covers swathes of Torrenta. In this huge savannah, a number of Pokemon reside, congregating near the many watering holes and rivers that dot this region. Only the distant rim of mountains that encircles these plains offer any suggestion to a visitor that the Merengi Prairie is not an isolated world of peace and tranquility. This is Torrenta at its most natural -- at its most primal.
30561
[ ]Tower of Heaven
An ancient, hidden tower on a small abandoned island. This antiquated and supposedly mystic tower is said to hold an ancient secret. It seems to touch the skies, but when construction began on the tower, no one seems to know. Thunderstorms constantly pour here, though it holds a fantasy-like appeal; despite the constantly pouring rain, it's always quiet. It's as though something different is in the air here. Be careful not to lose yourself, and don't fall!
16321
[ ]Snow Fields (3 sub-boards)
Welcome to the Torrenta Snow Fields! Here you can search for new Pokémon, have a bite to eat and something warm to drink at the café, rent some ski equipment, and explore this year ‘round icy attraction! Don’t forget to take the chair lift to the top of the mountains, the views are spectacular! But be sure to dress warmly. People have been known to wind up missing because of the constant snowstorms, and most have never returned safely … or at all.
1142,529
[ ]Volcanic Hot Springs (3 sub-boards)
The fresh water hot springs of the Tiykao volcanic range hold many healing abilities, and it’s the perfect place to relax or train your Pokemon. It’s very hot and there’s quite a humid atmosphere, though many rare water Pokemon live in the springs and a large assortment of Fire-type Pokemon often come down from the mountain to drink. Finally, the path up the mountain has opened, and Mt. Tiykao is officially open for exploration, though you can still content yourself with the Fire and Water-type Pokemon that lurk at the mountain’s base…

Mt. Tiykao is currently spewing lava from its peak.
31294
[ ]Deserted Graveyard (2 sub-boards)
The Deserted Graveyard is infamous for its bountiful supply of Ghost and Psychic-type Pokémon, closely followed by its large number of missing persons reports. The graveyard is no longer officially tended to by anyone but is in no way unkempt. A common belief is that the lost spirits of the Pokémon and humans who were buried here who have not found peace roam the area protecting the final resting places of those whom have fallen…
34624
[ ]Adara Ruins
These ruins, located off the coast of Torrenta, were once a Temple belonging to an ancient people. Now, wearied by time they stand alone, flooded by the ocean. Vast chimneys that erupt from the surface of the sea throw down light and air, while strange runes mark the walls, stringing together ancient words and spells in forgotten languages. Recently, these Ruins have become home to a considerable number of pokemon. But it has long been said, that at the base of these ruins, something tremendously powerful lies. Resting. Watching. Waiting.
24335
[ ]Torrenta Caverns - 1 Viewing
A huge cavern, many Pokémon that like dark areas or a rocky habitat live here. Upon entering the large caves, a towering tunnel branches off in one direction before splitting into three more pathways; if you don't have a flashlight or a light-producing Pokémon then expect to get lost in the never-ending caverns.
23347
[ ]Forest Deepgreen (2 sub-boards)
The trees of Deepgreen are towering, some of them even rivaling Garda in height. The fragrance of nature drifts throughout the forest, and many secluded rivers and lakes are scattered all over the humongous grove. The climate is cool and refreshing, and many different Pokemon can be found here, resting or playing. There are rumors that perhaps, if you look hard enough, The Voice of the Forest will appear to you, and that there is something more sinister lying within Deepgreen's depths. But, who knows. Rumors are rarely ever true...
30486
[ ]Gutix Beach (1 sub-board)
Gutix Beach is famous throughout the Torrenta region for its fine white sand, quantity of rare pearls and collectible shells and the many Water-type Pokémon that live there and in the tidal caves at the southern end of the beach. It's the perfect place to train or relax with your friends and Pokémon…
25366
[ ]Torrenta Sewers (1 sub-board)
A large series of tunnels and caverns connected together by canals full of muck and trash. A damp, slippery platform only a few inches above the river is what keeps you out of it, flickering lights above you letting you see where you're going. Maintenance seems to have been halted, walls grimy and crumbling, parts of the pathway giving way, and lights going out constantly. Chained gates over some tunnels are giving way, as well, perhaps releasing something that was kept away on purpose. To top it off, the stench down here is close to unbearable, making eyes water and throats gag.
577
[ ]Abandoned Train Station
This is the abandoned Night Train's station. Many believe it to be haunted or deserted, but no ghosts mind it, nor is it kept in a neat and tidy condition like the graveyard. The only time Ghost Pokémon don't haunt an area is if it is already occupied and protected … but who would want to protect this dump? What exactly is lurking within the Night Train's walls? Only a few stray Meowth and the odd Pidgey or Spearow visit…
11142
Urban Torrenta
[ ]Nurjak City (2 sub-boards)
Nurjak is a city that was born in the center of the Torrenta Region. With roads and pathways heading toward it throughout the region, there's always a way to get to this urban sprawl. This city houses anything that a trainer can need, including the newly built Battle Tower. Nurjak is considered to be the heart of Torrenta, and hundreds of trainers travel through the city daily.
46853
[ ]Breeders INC (1 sub-board)
Adopt a Pokémon here, or become a breeder and let others adopt Pokémon from you. You can also open an Adoption Agency so that if you have Pokémon you've caught previously in your adventures that you don't want or can't handle anymore, you can adopt them off to good homes.
NOTE: Please read the rules before becoming a breeder or an adopter.
25443
[ ]Guild Headquarters (6 sub-boards)
A directory full of flashy signs and distracting advertisements; despite the almost dizzying amount of propaganda, this is the center where guilds are advertised. Most of them don't give out exactly where their HQs are located (whether it be because they're secretive or just flat out illegal), but all of them offer information about themselves and usually have some more hints about how to register with them.
1001,727
[ ]Trainer Hill
Here, you can battle fake trainers and earn training experience and levels without battling poor defenseless (heh) real Pokémon or convincing real trainers and/or waiting for them forever to make a move. From Aroma Ladies to Dragon Tamers, you simply post a thread with the team (and their levels) of the Pokémon you want to train, and let the battle commence!
1272,943
[ ]Trainer Lounge (3 sub-boards)
This is an area for those looking for travel companions, a place to relax and unwind, to find rivals or just trainers to battle, etc. It is spacious with a battle floor, Pokecenter, cafe and lounge. You can also come here to shop.
552,115
[ ]Frontier Region (5 sub-boards)
Here, we have the Frontier region. Aimed at trainers who have pokemon over level 50 and three badges, these five trainers set out to give the trainers of Torrenta a different challenge. Each battle with a unique set of rules, these five are not meant to be taken lightly. If you think you have the guts and the pokemon, this challenge is for you.
