Good News, Everyone!
You can now play chess against fellow forum members! This plugin is fully functional, and even includes a ranking system and tracks your wins/losses.
To start a game, simply click "Play Chess" located next to the "Create Thread" button, as pictured here.
Next, simply type in your opponent's name into the popup box. It works just like the PM boxes, so you'll have to wait for their name to pop up, then select them. Then click "done". It will then bring up the game board, and have you make your first move. Once you have made your move, click "I moved", and it will post the game board with your move.
This will send a notification to your partner, which looks like this. Once clicked, it will bring up a list of games that you are participating in, and you can select the game you'd wish to move in. The game screen will look like this, and to make your move, click on the button at the top labeled "It's your move". It will then bring up the game board, in which you make your move and then click "I moved" like in the previous step. At any time, you can click "I forfeit" in order to forfeit the match.
As for the Ranking system, I currently have it set up for the following:
- 1 win - Baby (Pokemon)
- 5 wins - Base (Pokemon)
- 10 wins - Evolved
- 25 wins - Pseudo
- 50 wins - Mega
- 100 wins - Legendary
A couple of details about the functioning of the game:
- When making your move, squares will highlight green if you're able to move into them.
- When making your move, opponents will highlight red if you're able to capture them.
- If you release the mouse click, it confirms your move. In order to change your move, you might have to either close the tab, or use the url box to go back to the home page, then go back into the game and re-attempt your move. I haven't figured out an 'undo move' yet. Edit: Alternatively, you can just hit the back-space key to take you out of the "post".
- Moves like Castling and en passant are able to be done.
Have fun! Play Chess! Be Civil! Let the games... BEGIN!
